Streamlining OSHA 1910 Compliance Process

Brian Rivers, PE, PM&A clarified a few key points on how A1 Orange and PM&A will work together to simplify and expedite the OSHA 1910 compliance process for our business partners and allow servicing to continue.

  • Since many property owners/managers were unable to meet OSHA 1910 roof anchorage certification and fall protection requirements by November 20, 2017, OSHA has provided for an extension of this deadline and servicing of these buildings. They must provide documentation that they are in the process of having their property evaluated, and are making plans to bring it into compliance – due diligence.
  • Working with A1 Orange, PM&A will visit your property and develop a proposal for the testing/inspections required to meet OSHA 1910’s requirements. If additional equipment is needed, they may also be able to provide a proposal for these services. This proposal satisfies OSHA’s due diligence requirement.
  • OSHA 1910 safety compliance impacts any contractor (i.e. HVAC, roofing, replacement windows, exterior building services) whose work involves walking around on your roof and/or attaching to your anchors to do work on the side of your building or for personal fall restraint systems. They are not legally allowed to perform work near unprotected roof edges if your fall protection equipment has not been tested and inspected or isn’t in the due diligence process described above.
